Teaching in Kuala Lumpur today

THE SCHOOL
350 years of educating
young people
Reigate Grammar School was founded in 1675 by Alderman Henry Smith, whose vision was to create educational opportunity for young people. For over 350 years, pupils have been educated in the heart of Reigate, Surrey, building a tradition of academic achievement, opportunity and personal growth.

Today, Reigate Grammar School is a leading HMC independent co-educational day school, recognised for outstanding academic outcomes, exceptional pastoral care and a commitment to educating the whole child.
Guided by the belief that happy kids achieve great results, RGS creates an environment where pupils are encouraged to achieve their ambitions while developing confidence, character and purpose.

RECOGNITION
An award-winning British school behind the Reigate name
Reigate Grammar School UK has been recognised nationally for academic excellence and the quality of its education, including The Sunday Times Independent Secondary School of the Year 2025 and inclusion in the Tatler Schools Guide.
THE CONNECTION
What links Kuala Lumpur to Surrey
RGSKL maintains a close and active relationship with Reigate Grammar School in the UK. RGS UK undertakes compliance and quality visits twice each year, contributes to academic and curriculum oversight, and works directly with RGSKL leaders to support shared standards.

The wider RGS family also creates opportunities for collaboration across schools and connects pupils to the Reigatian community beyond Kuala Lumpur.

This is what makes the Reigate name meaningful in Kuala Lumpur: an active educational relationship, not simply a shared identity.

Reigatian in heritage.
Malaysian at heart. Global in outlook.
INDEPENDENTLY CHECKED
Accreditation
Oversight from RGS UK is one form of assurance. External inspection is another, and it matters more, because the people conducting it have no stake in the answer.

RGSKL is pursuing accreditation from COBIS, the Council of British International Schools, BSO, British Schools Overseas, and ISI, the Independent Schools Inspectorate. These are the bodies that inspect British independent schools around the world, against the same standards applied in the United Kingdom.
