The years that open doors
Through GCSE and IGCSE pathways, pupils work closely with specialist teachers to discover their strengths, pursue their interests and prepare for the next stage of their education.
Alongside academic study, students develop confidence and wider skills through leadership, enrichment, co-curricular activities and educational trips. They are encouraged to take genuine responsibility, contribute ideas, lead initiatives and help shape school life.

Carefully planned guidance helps pupils understand future subject choices, university pathways and the changing world of work.

Digital literacy becomes increasingly important as pupils learn to evaluate sources, create with technology and use emerging tools, including AI, thoughtfully and responsibly. The emphasis is on critical thinking: knowing how to question, test and improve what technology produces.

YEARS 7 TO 9
Building breadth before specialising
The first three years of Secondary build the breadth pupils will later specialise from. Teaching is by subject specialists across the curriculum, and assessment through Year 9 informs the pathways available at IGCSE.
YEARS 10 AND 11
The IGCSE programme
A note on timing. Pupils intending to take IGCSEs need to join by Year 10. The two year programme begins there, so a later entry point does not allow the course to be completed.

THE CORE CURRICULUM, 15 PERIODS
English, 5 periods. Pupils take one of three combinations, guided by their teachers to the most appropriate based on their current proficiency: English First Language and Literature; English as a Second Language with English for Academic Purposes; or English as an Additional Language with English for Academic Purposes.

Mathematics, 5 periods. One of three pathways, with teachers guiding pupils based on their Year 9 assessments: Extended Maths with Additional Maths, Extended Maths, or Core Maths.

Cultural connection, 1 period. Bahasa Malay, or additional PE for pupils not taking Bahasa.
​
Wellbeing and community, 4 periods. PSHE, House period, assembly and core PE. None are examined.

ELECTIVE OPTIONS, 15 PERIODS
Pupils choose five subjects, one from each block.

Some subjects appear in more than one block. That is deliberate, and it gives pupils more than one route to a combination that suits them. Each subject can only be chosen once across all five blocks.
Beyond the classroom
More than 115 co-curricular activities run each term, from Model United Nations and History Bee to rock bands, orchestra, taekwondo, game design and digital art. Secondary pupils take on real responsibility within their House, supporting younger members and leading competitions, performances and charity initiatives. It is where leadership is practised rather than talked about.

Care and support
Through age appropriate pastoral education, pupils build the language and self awareness to understand their physical and emotional wellbeing, form healthy relationships, and seek support when they need it.

Pastoral care and safeguarding are shared responsibilities across the whole school community, shaping how we support every pupil academically, socially and emotionally.
​
As academic demands increase, support remains personalised. Pupils may receive targeted EAL or learning support alongside mainstream lessons, with strategies and interventions reviewed as needs change. Where appropriate, specialist professionals can support access to the curriculum and successful progression through IGCSE pathways.
What comes next
IGCSE results open the door to Sixth Form, where pupils specialise through A Levels and prepare for university. Guidance on subject choices begins well before the end of Year 11, so that decisions are made with a clear view of where each pathway leads.
